The Babylonian Foundations of Kabbalah 

Many core elements of what we now call Kabbalahtrace back to Jewish communities in Babylonia between the 6th century BCE and the 11th century CE. While the full structured system of Kabbalah emerged in medieval Europe, its mystical, magical, and esoteric building blocks took shape during centuries of exile and cultural exchange with Persian, Hellenistic, and Mesopotamian traditions.
